Kia Concept EV5: Another new electric car from Kia

No sooner has the production version of the EV9 been unveiled than Kia's next coup follows: the Korean brand presents the Concept EV5, obviously a smaller electric SUV. The study celebrated its premiere at the brand's EV Day in China.
There is still no information about the drive, the battery or the platform; dimensions and prices were not published either. According to Kia, the EV5 is to be introduced this year in the Middle Kingdom.

The boxy and angular exterior closely resembles the EV9 . Both models have a blunt front and a hook-like light signature at the front. The side view with the numerous beads and the black insert on the sill is also reminiscent of the EV9. There are also 21-inch wheels and a roof spoiler. However, the taillights are significantly different; A continuous LED line runs across the entire width between C-shaped elements on the outside.
Inside there is a minimalistic cockpit with very few buttons. The cockpit landscape looks similar to that of the EV6 and EV9: two landscape format monitors are placed side by side on the dashboard. There is also a (probably still non-series) angular steering wheel and (probably also non-series) connected front seats.
In the study , the seats can also be swiveled outwards in order to get in and take a seat. When night falls, the panoramic glass sunroof offers a view of the night sky. The roof apparently also contains solar cells.
The car is a four seater. There is apparently another bench behind the passenger cabin, which can be accessed from the tailgate. In addition to plant-based materials such as algae, recycled PET bottles are used, and no leather is used. The interior is light gray, which goes well with the study's exterior paint finish.
The car is inspired by the Opposites United design philosophy . There will not only be a preview of a fully electric series model that will be launched in China later this year, but also an outlook on the design of the upcoming models. The design combines an emotional design language with innovative, user-oriented interior design, said Kia chief designer Karim Habib.
If and when the car will also be available from us, Kia only wants to reveal later. According to rumors from Korean trade union circles, an EV3 and an EV4 are to come onto the market in the coming year; the internal code names are project names CT and SV. Another model (codenamed OV), which is an electric SUV, is scheduled to launch in 2025.
